As chaos reigns in Washington, the DLCC is bringing expertise from across the country to strategize and build Democrats’ foundation of power in the states

WASHINGTON—Today, the DLCC announced the addition of seven new members to our Board of Directors, including Wisconsin Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer.

Drawn from legislative leaders across the country, the DLCC’s board is the national governing body of the committee. The board is integral to driving Democrats’ nationwide strategy to win elections in state legislatures and our members represent the future of the Democratic party. As chaos reigns in Washington, these incoming board members serve important roles in fighting extremism and delivering on the issues voters care most about.

The full list of the new class of board members includes:

California Speaker of the Assembly Robert Rivas
Colorado Senate President James Coleman
Illinois Speaker Pro Tempore Kambium “Kam” Buckner
Michigan Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks
Oregon Speaker of the House Julie Fahey
Virginia Speaker of the House Don Scott
Wisconsin Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer

Wisconsin Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer issued the following statement:

“The DLCC has a clear and effective long-term strategy, including in Wisconsin, where today, we’re closer than ever to flipping the legislature blue after a generation of gerrymandered Republican control. I’m honored to join the DLCC’s board to shore up the blue firewall across the country and expand Democratic power in states just like mine. Together, we’ll fight for the economic opportunities that every community deserves and move our country forward legislature by legislature.”

New York Senate President Pro Tempore and Majority Leader and DLCC Chair Andrea Stewart-Cousins issued the following statement:

“I’m thrilled to welcome our new class of DLCC board members, including Wisconsin Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer. There has never been a more important time to ensure we have battle-tested, experienced leaders at the helm of Democratic strategy in the states as Donald Trump upends Washington and our economy. Leader Neubauer embodies the diverse expertise needed to drive and elevate our strategy to build durable state power through the end of the decade. The stakes couldn’t be higher, but we have the team in place to meet this moment and position the DLCC as a leader in breaking new ground for the Democratic Party.”

Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement: “All eyes should be on the states in 2025, and our new board members – including Wisconsin Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer – are leaders to watch. As state Democrats continue to overperform in special elections and counter the chaos in Washington, we are laying the foundation for Democratic success up and down the ticket. Our board members represent some of the sharpest minds in politics, and I’m excited to partner with them to build our plan for victory for cycles to come.”

Greta Neubauer doesn’t back down from a fight– she’s a former climate organizer, the first openly queer Democratic leader in Wisconsin, and one of the youngest chamber leaders in the country. In 2024, she led the Wisconsin Assembly in making ground-breaking gains on new maps after more than a decade of the GOP’s gerrymandered control. In an incredibly competitive battleground state, Neubauer is on the ground connecting with voters and delivering on their top issues. As the next generation of Democratic leadership rises, Neubauer will continue to be a force to be reckoned with.
The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) is the campaign arm of Democratic state legislatures and leads the national strategy for building power and new majorities. Over the last three decades, we have strategized cycle over cycle to win majorities and lead the effort to bring national attention and investment to our ballot level, winning nearly a dozen new chamber majorities over the last decade. Our work has ensured that nearly half of Americans are represented by at least one Democratic majority in their statehouse. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and have the closest connections to Americans’ day-to-day lives. From protecting fundamental freedoms and voting rights to growing the middle class and advancing opportunity, the DLCC and state legislators are moving the Democratic agenda forward and shaping the future of this country.
